My experiment with watercolor and rocksalt! By Arianna Hall |
That's so cool! How did you use the rocksalt?
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty easy actually thanks for asking!
Delete1. You paint a section of illustration board - watercolor paper or illustration board soak up the color the best
2. use any color - using any brand of watercolors
3. then apply a brush-full of straight water to push the color around so the rocksalt can absorb it well
4. as soon as it spreads to the area you'd like sprinkle a good amount of rock salt over the area of watercolor
5. do this process and layer the colors around one another - allow the colors to bleed and mix a bit if you'd like
6. once you have filled the paper or board with watercolor and rocksalt you should let it dry overnight
7. then when it's dry you knock off all the rocksalt with your hands - you might have to pick some of it off!
8. and once you have a nice background of watercolor and rocksalt designs you can go in with whatever other media you want to.. for example I like to use black pen to do linework over mine.
Have fun! I hope this was helpful and not too confusing - If you have any more questions feel free to comment :)
